DESIGNING CHARACTERS OUT OF ART CENTRE ARCHITECTURE

The main part of my project was based on the characters I have designed out of certain elements in or around Art Centre. I wanted to give the building more life. I created these"spirits" and put them in an AR. To be able to see the characters there needs to be a specific tracking image visible. It made me think of magical runes and portals summoning the spirits from another, more magical dimension; hece the name of the project.

The project's most important element was probably its connection to the Art Centre. It was were the Takeover (an annual student-led site specific exhibition) was supposed to take place in. Due to the complications related to the spread of Covid-19, the exhibition has been cancelled and Art Centre closed till the situation would change.

My hope was to offer the audience the possibility to walk around the Art Centre and explore it using my app, perhaps giving them a different view on this place. My plans had to change, obviously.

This time, it's not the audience who would come to the Art Centre but the Art Centre would bring its magic and come to them. Everyone who has the app and the tracking images will be able to bring the most iconic elements of the building into their own house.

It's almost like souvenirs but they don't take up the space on your shelves!
